| Physical
Appearance |
Mickie has shoulder length slightly wavy brown hair, although she's been known to straighten it.
There is a small (2cm) scar on her right temple. This is from an accident where she fell and cut her head on the corner of a table. |
| History |
Mickie was born in Chicago. Her parents divorced when she was three and she has no relationship with her father, having not seen him in over ten years. Her mother (Sarah Brewster) is a trade negotiator within Starfleet (she also has a law degree), handling trade disputes. Mickie's mother was often away so Mickie was raised by her grandparents in Chicago until she was twelve years old and started traveling with her mother.
Mickie applied to Starfleet as soon as she was old enough. Although it was rumored that her mother, who had many connections within Starfleet, may have pulled some strings to ensure that her daughter was accepted, Mickie was fully responsible for her own successes once at the Academy.
Mickie felt she had to work extra hard to pass the more academic classes but found she was a good programmer and had an aptitude as a pilot.
While at Starfleet Academy, she fell in love with another cadet, Julia Lang. They married in 2390, but were separated upon graduation.
Mickie's first assignment after the Academy was to the USS Roanoke where she was a Helm officer. She was there for six years before requesting a transfer to the USS Valkyrie. While apart, her relationship with Julia was strained. Mickie was ambitious and did not understand her wife's choice to be a nurse rather than a doctor. They'd argued frequently and while apart the gulf between them widened. When Julia threatened divorce, Mickie swallowed her pride and asked her mother's help to facilitate an immediate transfer to the USS Valkyrie.
Once on the Valk, their turbulent relatinship continued until Julia's death on an away mission. |
| Psychological
Profile |
Mickie is particularly ambitious and driven. In some Starfleet circles her mother is well-known and Mickie is constantly trying to prove that she can succeed on her own. This does not mean that she and her mother do not get along. Sarah Brewster is exceedingly proud of her only daughter and brags about her to anyone who will listen.
Mickie is a risk taker and can be reckless at times, often seeing only the goal and not the path toward it. |
| Specialties
and Skills |
Mickie is a terrific pilot.
Having travelled a lot as a teenager, she can speak passingly well (although not fluently) in several alien languages, including Vulcan, Klingon, Ferengi, Bajoran, and Tellarite. |
| Hobbies and
Interests |
Mickie prefers physical sports, particularly soccer, rather than more intellectual pursuits. She never reads for pleasure.
At Starfleet Academy, Mickie spent a lot of her free time in holo-flight simulators. She is fascinated with the early history of flight and builds model airplanes. |
| Notes |
| Mickie is also epileptic, although this is not found anywhere in her medical file and only her wife, Julia Lang, knows that she has been having seizures since she was twenty-one years old. Mickie's greatest fear is that this should be discovered and she'd no longer be alowed to be a pilot. |
