Appearance |
| Alan looks relaxed around people. He usually has a smile on his face. Because of his symbiont, he knows a lot, and he usually shows just that. |
| History |
Alan, short for Alanor, is a Trill, who was born on Februari 26th, 2366, as Alanor Elan, on the Trill homeworld. His father and mother both were unjoined, but they wanted their offspring to pursue a life, together with a symbiont. Alan has 1 older sister, who was born 2 years before him. His sister, Tessa, applied to the symbiosis commission. She got a symbiont when she was 21. Alan was 19 at the time, but had also applied for a symbiont. Unfortunately for Tessa, an error was made. The symbiont was removed out of her. This left her feeling incomplete. So after this, she left Trill, in order to find out what she wanted to do with her life. Alan stayed home, and about 2 years after his sister, and after extensive testing, he was chosen to receive the Nerell symbiont: The same symboint that was chosen for Tessa. He gladly accepted the symbiont, but he knew he would hurt his sister, by doing so.
Alan had changed, that day. He no longer was the young, inexperienced brother. He now had the experience and interests of 5 life times, including those of his sister. He now knew what to do. He wanted to join Starfleet. He felt he had become more mature, and more experienced. He knew he had some fascinating qualities, which could be of use to starfleet. And both he and the symbiont wanted to explore space. Starfleet seemed a logical decision. There was only one problem: His sister.
She had also decided to join starfleet, and both of them wanted to become an OPS officer. But Alan knew that there were a lot of ships in Starfleet. He was sure he wouldn't be put on the same ship as his sister. He knew she couldn't handle that. He knew his sisters most personal thoughts, her feelings, her emotions. He knew she had desired the symbiont, that she had felt complete with it. And that she hated to say goodbye. And if Alan and Tessa would be put on the same ship; Alan didn't think Tessa would be up to it.
So in 2388, Alan joined the academy. In 2391, he graduated. He became an ensign, and was assigned to the USS Odyssey. Only to find out, his sister was assigned there as well...
Nerell's history:
2200 - 2245: Host: Leanna. She was a pilot, especially good with small shuttlecraft.
2245 - 2301: Host: Dekarr. He was a chef, in a restaurant on Trill.
2301 - 2383: Host: Farenn. During the Dominion war, she was captain on a Trill vessel, in order to defend Trill. But there was no threat, and she felt she had wasted her time there.
2383 - 2383: Host: Tessa. Due to an administration error, she got the Nerell symbiont. But a few hours later, this mistake was rectified. The symbiont was removed.
2383 - 2387: Host: Rikaros. He was a Starfleet Ops officer, who got killed in a barfight. Fortunately, the symbiont was saved.
2387: Host: Alan. He wants to be an Ops officer as well.

| Psychological
Profile |
Since he has the symbiont, he has become more mature, and can handle situations better, then before he had joined with it. He seems relaxed when you see him. He has about 5 lifetimes of experience, and isn't afraid to show it. Alan sometimes is a bit of a perfectionist. He likes to get things done, the best way possible.
His relation with his sister has stranded, since he has the symbiont. Since he knows so much about her, and with the fact in mind that she had the symbiont first, the 2 siblings avoid each other, whenever possible.
His parents always expected the most from his sister, not from him. He was just the younger brother. He didn't have to work as hard as his sister. It wasn't that he didn't want to, he just wouldn't be allowed to do more. After his sister didn't receive a symbiont, and went to space, the expectations that his parents had for his sister, now were put upon him. In the time between then and when he got a symbiont, his parents wanted him to be the best. When he finally got a symbiont, his parents were very happy. So was he. But he knew his sister wouldn't be. After he received the symbiont, he decided to go away from Trill, away from his parents. He needed to get an own life.
On the outside, everything about Alan looks perfect. But actually, he has some negative qualities, both from himself, as from the symbiont. One of those 'qualities' is the 'relaxed' posture towards rules. Alan thinks rules are meant as a guideline, not as something you must, or mustn't do. Therefore, if he thinks the rules are in his way, he wouldn't hesitate to break them.
Another 'interesting' quality is his quest for adventure. He's the kind of guy that likes to live on the edge. His constant quest for danger not only endangers him, but can also endanger others.

| Specialties
and Skills |
Even before the symbiont, Alan liked to arrange things, to make sure everything was working out fine. Now, with the help of the symbiont, he was even more relaxed, and knew even better what to do.
Alan can work well with people. One of Nerell's previous hosts was a chef, so his cooking is something to look forward to.
Another hobby of him, is fencing. Before his joining, he never liked it. His sister did, though. But after he recieved the symbiont, he developed a taste for it. |
| Hobbies and
Interests |
He likes to experiment on flying in shuttlecraft. The feeling of a sharp turn, dangerous maneuvers, and experimental flights is exciting for him. He really gets a kick out of it. He also likes to train in the holodeck, again with shuttlecraft, or even with the more archaic airplanes. He likes feeling the wind stroking through his hair.
Since one of Nerell's previous hosts was a chef, Alan enjoys cooking. He often doesn't use his replicator, he makes his food himself. In his spare time, he likes to cook for the entire crew, if possible.

| Notes |
| Tessa may think Alan is perfect, because of the symbiont. But in fact, Alan isn't. He is constantly struggling with the fact that he knows his sister inside out. She is a part of him, because she also was a host for the symbiont. But he also knows he can't let it show. He doesn't want to hurt his sister. He'll do anything necessary to protect her. |
