Appearance |
| Chris is a tall, broad-shouldered man with short spiky dark hair. He has a small scar on his cheek from an incident during his Academy days. |
| History |
Chris was born on April 1st 2369 to the then-head of Starfleet Security, Admiral Angela J. Dwyer. As he grew up, he wanted to be so much like his mother, a Starfleet officer.
He finally got the chance when he went on a college careers visit to Starfleet Academy in 2387, and took the entrance test. He was astounded to find that he had scored highly in that test and was invited to enter the Academy the next year.
One night at the Academy, Chris found himself facing expulsion for an offence he did not commit. But it was thanks to the loyalty of a fellow cadet that cleared his name and exposed the true guilty party. These two cadets became firm friends and accompanied each other on several Academy classroom projects. The name of the cadet that saved his Starfleet career was Jonathan Ditch.
Several months later, Chris was saddened to learn that Jonathan had to leave the Academy to attend to his family’s engineering company, but Chris promised his friend that he would ‘go the distance’ and become a Starfleet officer.
Chris graduated in 2392 and was posted to the USS Courageous as a security officer, where his commitment to duty and his determination to be the best earned him a promotion to ASTC.
He was reported MIA following the Courageous’ disappearance in late 2392.
But when the Courageous was found in orbit of a planet somewhere in Beta Quadrant, Dwyer was discovered to have been collecting evidence on the ship’s CO; Captain White. He transmitted this evidence over to the USS Calhoun, using security codes he had personally developed.
After his transmissions were discovered by the Courageous' tactical officer, he ceased broadcasting and fled the ship in a Type 7 shuttlecraft. When the Calhoun crew managed to reverse the machine that brought them to that planet, Chris' shuttle was swept back to the original position of the Courageous, prior to that ships' disappearance.
Immediately, Chris fired up his small craft's warp drive and warped away, with the Courageous in hot pursuit. Eventually, he managed to escape his former ship by hiding on a stormy class Y moon, orbiting a class I gas supergiant.
Eventually, Chris was picked up by the USS Sarek, where he surrendered himself into Starfleet custody.
Upon arrival at Starfleet Headquarters, Chris immediately offered to testify against Captain White and her entire command. But, Starfleet had already received reports about the contact of Dwyer's former captain's conduct. One of the reports, from the AOPS on the USS Calhoun, reported how one of the Courageous' crew risked everything to reveal the truth about his captain.
Dwyer immediately owned up to being the mysterious 'mutual friend' and detailed how he had transmitted secret coded messages to the Calhoun, which contained all the evidence that Starfleet's Judge Advocate General would need to build a case against Captain White.
As according to Starfleet disciplinary procedure, Chris was court-martialed for his part in the Courageous affair. But, once again, it was the testimony of an old friend that exonerated him of any blame. That friend was Ensign Jonathan Ditch, now AOPS of the USS Calhoun.
Despite his exoneration, Dwyer was ordered to take a two-month leave of absence to recuperate from his experience. During his time away from Starfleet, he wrote his own report on the Courageous and their crew's conduct during their 'captivity' in orbit of that class-Y planet.
When he returned to Starfleet, he presented his report and, again, offered to testify against Captain White and her officers. Starfleet accepted his offer, on condition that he served a six-month probationary tour of duty aboard a Federation starship of their choice.
Chris was assigned to the USS Calhoun as a security officer, under the command of Captain Djidonou.
On 2393.11.05, Ensign Dwyer's probation was extended for another six months by order of Admiral A.J. Simmonds, current head of Starfleet Security.
On 2394.02.11, Ensign Dwyer was instrumental in uncovering Admiral A.J. Simmonds' criminal activities, such as attempted murder, conspiring with criminal elements to kidnap Ensign Dwyer, secretly communicating with a renegade vessel and conspiring to mutiny. Following these revelations, and the final capture of the USS Courageous, the Judge Advocate General convened a review hearing, which found that, due to Admiral Simmonds' obsession with ending Dwyer's career, his report recommending the extension of Dwyer's probation is found to be completely biased and is therefore ordered to be disregarded.
On 2394.03.16, The remaining time on Chris' probation was rescinded, and he was released from his probation conditions, returning to him the full rights and priveleges of a Starfleet officer.
Eight months later, Chris Dwyer married Ensign Jessica Chung in a traditional Starfleet ceremony, presided by the departing Captain Jennifer Su.
On 2396.02.23, their daughter, Elizabeth Dawn Dwyer was born, named after A.J. Simmonds' murdered daughter, Elizabeth Simmonds, and Captain Dawn Summers. |
| Psychological
Profile |
Chris is a committed and determined individual. He never gives up on anything or anyone, even if the situation seems hopeless.
His experiences from his time on the Courageous have hardened him emotionally and mentally, giving him a much shorter fuse than he had at the Academy.
He has expressed anger at several people at command level for the extension of his probation on 2393.11.05. However, following the capture of Admiral Simmonds and his trial for treason and attempted murder, he is now more relaxed and finally believes himself to be fully vindicated.
Following the birth of his daughter, Chris' mood does seem a little lighter. |
