Physical Appearance
Virt, the station's Artificial Intelligence, can show his presence in three ways. In one state, he is simply a voice, fairly deep and distinctly male, with a very slight Arabic accent. In his second state, if he wishes someone to see him, he can appear on a console screen. Finally, in rooms where holo-emitters have been installed, Virt can appear as a holographic projection. In the latter state, he is, to the naked eye, no different from a flesh and blood Human.

Virt appears to be a Human male in his early thirties. Ethnically, he seems to be an unusual cross between an Arab and a Native American. His hair is black, and cut very short. His eyes are halfway between green and grey, and give him a fairly sharp, intelligent seeming gaze.

He wears a red Starfleet uniform, but no rank pips.

Only one clue could lead to thinking he isn't real. His skin is free of even the slightest scar or blemish, and his features are almost perfectly symmetrical. In that aspect, you could look at him, and sense vaguely that something isn't quite normal. . .

History
Virt is a prototype, a unique model. His highly complex program was designed on Jupiter Station.
The aim was to enhance the Federation's ship, base and station computers with a more developed artificial intelligence. Virt was created to be fully sentient and self-aware.

He was designed to be first tested on Pandora Station.

His life is only just starting. . .

Psychological Profile
Programmed to obey the crew and serve them to the best of his abilities. He is also programmed to make his own decisions if necessary - that is, mainly, if there is no time to warn the crew of a problem.

Being self-aware, he is able to develop his own personality. Since he is the first of his kind, no one can tell what path that ability will lead him down. . .

He has a sense of curiosity, and a will to expand his own possibilities. He is capable of expressing annoyance, but cannot loose his temper. He understands irony, but is still struggling with such concepts as friendship or love. . .

Most of the time, he is amiable and patient.

On the other hand, he doesn't like it when engineers tinker excessively with the station. He says he likes his "home" just the way it is, thank you very much.
He also displays a tendency to believe he knows more about computers than anyone on board. Which, incidentally, is probably true. But he likes to remind people of the fact. . .

Specialties and Skills
Virt is the computer's intelligence. As such, he can control absolutely all the computer's functions.

Of course, limitations have been programmed into him. For example, he can't shut off life support or fire the station's weapons without authorisation. Besides, his ethical subroutines are his main guideline in such matters.

His skills are truly astonishing regarding computer systems, but then he hasn't really been programmed for anything else. He knows enough to socialise on a basic level. He also has basic medical knowledge.

Hobbies and Interests
Knowledge. Learning more, about himself and about the universe. Trying to understand the crew, who, in truth, fascinate him.

He is programmed to play games if a member of the crew wishes to play with/against him, and he is able to enjoy this function. He also self-limits his skill at certain games, so as not to win all the time. . .

He has realised that his social skills subroutines are limited, and he now seeks to enhance them. He would like to get to know certain members of the crew, and to fully understand the concept of "friendship". . .

Notes
Any member of the crew can deactivate his holographic projection by a vocal command. Only senior officers, however, can order his program to temporarily go dormant. When that happens, the computer reverts to its basic functions, such as they can be found in any other Federation ship or station.
This is a failsafe, in case his programming should go wrong and be a threat to the station and crew. Not that it should ever happen, of course. . .
