A Legendary post
by Rob Verlinden
I'm happy to tell you that we have decided to start roleplaying on Pandora Station again. The Station is the headquarters of the "Frontier Fleet", so many other dutystations may visit there. Pandora will be SPC-only, which is good since it has many diplomats and civilians aboard. Pandora Station was most active in 2004 and 2005. However, posting has continued for a long time with background stories and sideplots, which are ideal for a space station. It has also staged Christmas and Easter celebrations. For this legendary post I have picked a good example of a background story in which three civilians identify a strange man on the promenade. Is it really a pirate? Or is it somebody else?
Subject line: Civilian Melissa Kinnard
(Pandora Station - Promenade - 2392.04.25, 1651)
Melissa nudged Yalon and pointed toward Darnena. "Let's ask her."
Yalon nodded and they walked toward the reporter.
"Excuse me, Ms. Darnena," Melissa said, "This may sound like a silly question, but have you seen a pirate?"
"A... pirate?" Darnena said, obviously surprised by the question. "You mean... eye patch, parrot, wooden leg... pirate?"
"Kinda, except the wooden leg," Melissa said with a nod. "I didn't see a parrot either."
"No, I... I haven't seen a pirate," the reporter replied. "Why would I have seen a pirate?"
"We believe that a pirate has abducted Captain Kane," Yalon answered. "And now we're searching for that pirate. We saw him standing by the group of transwarp protesters earlier, but... well, we don't know where he is now..."
"Nobody else seems to have seen him," Melissa said with a sigh. "Although most people are ignoring those protestors anyway..."
"And..." Darnena started, "Why do you think a pirate kidnapped your father then?" She looked at Melissa.
"Isn't it obvious?" Melissa said. "They don't like transwarp, so they are trying to stop Starfleet by taking my father hostage... And my dad was in the holodeck, in a program with pirates, so whoever kidnapped him must have dressed up as a pirate, as a disguise or something."
"Can... Can I do anything to help?" Darnena asked, her voice trembling slightly. "I mean, I'd like to help you Melissa. This is probably not easy for you..."
"Yes, we *have* to find that pirate, or at least find out where he went," Melissa said. "I could go to security, of the police, but I don't think they will believe me..." She looked up at Darnena. "You *do* believe me, right? There *was* a suspicious looking pirate in the park, just before Jalando came to tell me that my father had disappeared."
(Reply Darnena)
"I don't know where to look anymore..." Again Melissa sighed and she looked into the park. Not far into the park an old man with a long beard in a long red robe and a strange pointed hat on his silver grey hair was looking in their direction. People in strange outfits were quite common, with all kinds of alien species visiting the station, but this man looked quite like a human.
She quickly turned back to look at Yalon and the reporter. "Don't look right away, but there's a strange old man looking at us from the park. I've seen him before... He looks familiar somehow..."
(Reply Darnena, Yalon)
"I don't know," Melissa said with a shrug. "I can't remember, it sure wasn't today..." She glanced towards the park again. The man still seemed to be looking at them.
(Reply Yalon, Darnena, any)
