Captain's Log, Supplemental
We have located the source of the distress call, a derelict space ship. Oddly, the vessel is in close relation to a nebula emitting sub-space radiation that is creating a "cloaked" area of space. That is the reason given by LT Jomorr, our CSO, for the fact our sensors did not pick up the vessel until we were very close.
I have authorized an Away Team to explore the vessel, who's design is familiar in some ways, but unlike anything we have met so far.

The U.S.S. Atlantis continues her mission of stellar mapping, confirming star charts and data from Federation probes. A nice, quiet mission is allowing our new officers to settle in, and after what the Atlantis has been through since arriving in the Gamma Quadrant I can't complain about a 'boring mission.'
My new First Officer, Paul Velden, seems to be making his presence known on board ... however I still wish I had a permanent Second Officer assigned. I have been assured that as soon as a good candidate is located, we will get the officer.
The Bridge intercepted a distress call, that seems to be automated, a short time ago. I have given orders to proceed on an intercept course at Warp 2 to scan the area.

The USS Atlantis will be starting a new mission to map Sector G-23.16.74 as soon as our new First Officer and replacement crew arrives from D.S. 9.
Starfleet has advised me that Intelligence reports show this to be an uninhabited, at least by warp-capable civilizations, sector.
On a personal note, I do not put much faith in Starfleet Intelligence's reports on warp-capable civilizations in this quadrant. I would feel better having a more experienced officer at the Tactical Console and with a fully staffed Command Team and Medical Department.
