A. Chief Engineering Officer (CEO)
B. Assistant Chief Engineering Officer (ACEO)
C. Other Positions

(|I. Overview|)
Every living being that exists has two very important parts, its brain and its hart. A starship also has these critical parts. The brains are the command staff and the hart is the engineers. It is the duty of all engineers to ensure that the ship is able to work to the best of its abilities. The engineering staff of a starship work day in and day out to make life on a starship possible which means; they are a critical part of the crew roster.

The CEO is in charge of the maintaining of the engine room, he/she is responsible of everything that goes on and has to report any change directly to the command staff. Engineers are also used to create any and all devices that might be needed by the crew. All ship systems are the responsibility of the engineering staff and are constantly repaired and monitored.

If anything goes wrong then they are responsible for fixing it. If the ship isn't able to work then the command staff is useless. Engineer-and-command staff relies on each other and the one is dependent on the other.

"Without a hart, the brain can't function."

(|III. Positions|)
A. Chief Engineering Officer (CEO):

The Chief Engineer is the principal "mechanic" of the ship. What the CMO is to the crew, the CEO is to the ship. He is knowledgeable in all aspects of starship engineering, from the warp engines to the food replicators and innermost conduits. He can usually be guaranteed to at least find the cause for a problem or malfunction, although he may need more extensive facilities than those found on his ship to effect repairs. He has his own office on the main engineering deck and can monitor and control all engineering functions from his position on the bridge.

Like the CO and FO, the Chief Engineer is technically always on call, even though most larger ships will have an assistant CEO assigned. The CEO has a complete staff knowledgeable in all aspects of starship engineering, from computer technicians to maintenance personnel. This staff is generally commensurate with the size and mission of the ship.

The Chief Engineering Officer also works hand in hand with the Chief of Operations.

B. Assistant Chief Engineering Officer (ACEO)

The Assistant Chief Engineer assists the Chief Engineer in the daily work; in issues regarding mechanical, administrative matters and co-ordaining repairs with other departments.

If so required the Asst. Chief Engineer must be able to take over as Chief Engineer, and thus must be versed in current information regarding the ship or facility.

C. Other Engineering positions

Engineering Officer (EO)

There are several non-specialized Engineers aboard of each vessel. They are assigned to their duties by the Chief Engineer and his Assistant, performing a number of different tasks as required (i.e. general maintenance and repair). Generally Engineers as assigned to more specialized Engineering person to assist in there work is so requested by the specialized Engineer.

Warp Systems Specialist (WSS)

The Warp Systems Specialist is a specialized Engineer. The complexity of the Warp Drive system and impulse systems of any starship is further complicated by the different settings required for each ship. No two vessels have exactly the same system aboard, and all settings require careful maintenance and checks to ensure peek performance. On smaller vessels this task may be performed by the Chief Engineer, but larger vessel have a dedicated Officer who's role to to ensure the Warp Drive system and impulse systems runs under any condition.

A small team is assigned to the Warp Systems Specialist which is made up from NCO personnel, assigned by the Asst. and Chief Engineer. The Warp Systems Specialist reports to the Asst and Chief Engineer.

Other Specialist

There are several other specialised Engineers aboard a Starship. The Warp Specialist is just an example.
