The Central Bureau of Penology is located in Stockholm on Earth. On Stardate 2715, the U.S.S. Enterprise beamed up research materials from Tantalus Colony that were to be sent to the Central Bureau of Penology. The container actually held Dr. Van Gelder, who was trying to escape Tantalus. In 2374, Captain Benjamin Sisko received this medal for his leadership in the recapture of Deep Space Nine. (DS9: Tears of the Prophets)

Starfleet used Code 2 in 2267 to send encrypted transmissions. The Romulans had broken Code 2 by Stardate 3579.4. Kirk intentionally used Code 2, and sent a false message to Starfleet telling them he would self-destruct with a corbomite device that would destroy everything within 200,000 km and result in a dead zone, and advised all vessels to avoid the area for 4 solar years. The Romulans backed off, and the Enterprise escaped. (TOS: The Deadly Years)

Code 710 is transmitted when a planet wants no vessels to approach under any circumstances. On Stardate 3192.1, Eminiar VII transmitted this code when the U.S.S. Enterprise approached the planet. Captain Kirk's compentency hearing.When a Captain is unfit, mentally or physically, a competency hearing is mandatory. The Captain is allowed to make a statement. He is entitled to direct examination of all witnesses immediately after the board has questioned them. On Stardate 3579.4, Commodore Stocker asked Spock to convene a competency hearing for Kirk, who was exposed to deadly radiation on Gamma Hydra IV. (TOS: The Deadly Years)
