(|Habitat ring|)
The habitat ring is the inner ring of Deep Space Nine. It is where the living quarters are located. There are at least 5 levels in the habitat ring. Weapons were stored in the Habitat Ring, level 5, section 3. Access to the weapons was limited to security clearance 7 and above. (DS9: Captive Pursuit)

(|Hailing frequencies|)
A broad range of (subspace) communication frequencies which is used to contact alien ships, in order to ensure that the message is received. Hailing messages are usually sent in various languages, when an unknown alien ship is encountered.

(|Hangar deck|)
The Hangar Deck on the U.S.S. Enterprise.Shuttlecraft launched from the hangar deck on Constitution-Class vessels. The hangar deck had a rotating floor that could position the shuttlecraft without it engaging its engines. (TOS: The Galileo Seven)

(|hatch servos|)
Part of hatch mechanism on runabouts. (DS9: Q-Less)

(|Heading|)
Flight vector which is specified relative to the center of the galaxy. A heading consists of the two coordinates azimuth (horizontal angle) and elevation (vertical angle). Heading 000-mark-0 represents a direction towards the galaxy center. Note: A heading and a bearing only differ in that a heading has no relationship to the current attitude or orientation of a spacecraft while a bearing has.

(|Heat dissipation units|)
Heat dissipation units are a mechanism that was aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise. On Stardate 3018.2, when the alien known as Sylvia caused the temperature aboard the Enterprise to climb, Kirk ordered DeSalle to channel bypass power into the heat dissipation units. It had no effect. (TOS: Catspaw)

(|Heisenberg compensator|)
Part of the transporter system that is connected to the molecular imaging scanners and balances out the Heisenberg effect. This effect is a quantum uncertainty that would otherwise not allow to exactly recreate the state of a complex electronic device or an organism, in particular a neural system.

(|Herman series|)
The Herman series is a type of android from a planet where Harry Mudd ended up when a ship he stole from Deneb V was damaged by the authorities in 2267. The body is covered with a self-renewing plastic over a skeleton of beryllium-titanium alloy.None of the android bodies has ever worn out. The estimated duration of the model is 500,000 years. Medi-robots are able to place a human brain within a structurally compatible android body. The androids found humans flawed, and intended to control mankind by serving them. Each android mind is one component of a mass brain linked through a central locus. This is Norman. The Androids said the Makers created them. The Makers were from the Andromeda galaxy. They were humanoid, and robots were common in their civilization. They performed service functions and freed their Makers to evolve a perfect social order. Their home planet's sun went nova and only a few exploratory outposts survived. The Makers all died over the stretch of time. They wouldn't let Harry go. They wanted to study him. Harry declared himself Mudd the First, ruler of the planet. He ordered Norman, the leader of the androids, to get a ship for him. Norman commandeered the U.S.S. Enterprise and brought them to the planet. The crew of the Enterprise, led by Captain Kirk disabled the androids with illogic. The androids were reprogrammed to back to their original purpose which was to adapt the planet for productive use. Mudd was paroled to the android population. He was looked after by 500 androids that look like his wife Stella. (TOS: I, Mudd)

(|Holodeck|)
A room aboard a starship or any other facility equipped with a 360 degree projection and forcefield system to recreate or simulate whatever natural or artificial environment is requested. The projection system is based on the omnidirectional holodiode. Numerous holodiodes are arranged in form of an array in the walls of a holodeck. Mere holographic light projections are employed to recreate remote scenery, while objects likely to be touched may be replicated. The projection always includes the whole three-dimensional structure of the environment, of which the visitor only perceives a two-dimensional cross-section, according to his current visual angle. In order to simulate a much larger environment than the size of the holodeck, forcefields are moving beneath the feet of the participants, while the whole environment is "scrolling".

(|Hovercar|)
Hovercars were invented sometime around the 2030s. (VOY: The 37's)

(|Hyperspanner|)
Engineering tool used in the calibration of plasma injectors.

(|Hypospray|)
Medical device that allows subcutaneous or intravenous injections without syringe. The hypospray evoporates the medicament and ejects it under high pressure so as to penetrate the epidermis without damage.
