'Odd?' Thought Lieutenant Junior Grade Micheal Allen Stonewall as he checked his cromometer for the last time. It now showed that it was 20:17 hours and he had been staying in the hallway for well over two or more hours so he opted to head towards the crew lounge before he had to go back to his guest quarters and gather up his things for his departure on to the Starbase that the Arakov was docked.
"Computer. Please show me the way to the crew lounge." Allen asked.
Instantly the wall lit up with a blue arrow indicating the way towards the crew lounge. "Thank you." Allen said before he started off down the hallway.
"Back to the introductions. I'm Captain Sera Vaun, soon to be CO of Deep Space Delta One. I'm thirty-four Earth years old, and I am Betazoid. So, in warning, when I give you an assignment you don't like, be careful what you think about me." Sera grinned, and a few chuckles were heard around the table. "Delta One is my first command, so bear with me. I was previously First Officer on the USS Jefferson, and before that, I was a medical officer."
Sera couldn't think of anything more to add, so she turned to Devon. "Consul Torlith, would you like to start things off, and tell us about yourself?"
Devon was caught off guard at his introduction. Naturally the actual crew should be introduced first, followed by the diplomats. ~I'm sure some people would agree with me on that.~ He gave a quick glance at Deleane. ~Who am I to argue with the captain?~
"I am Consul Torlith. The first Cardassian representative in the Delta Quadrant." He paused when he thought he heard someone say "and hopefully the last" but he couldn't be sure so he continued. As with your captain, this is a relatively new position for me. For those of you with less than fond memories of my people, I would just like to emphasize that though I am not StarFleet, I AM on your side. If there is anything I can do to assist you," He turned slowly to meet everyone's eyes as he spoke. "All of you. You need only ask." Feeling he had taken enough time he sat back in his chair and motioned for the next officer, one of the late arrivers forced to sit beside him. "And you are...?"
"Ensign Janssens." Jim said, " I'm the assistant science officer of the Arakov."
He looked around.
"I am 25 years old, and I recently graduated from Starfleet Academy, so this is my first assignment. Well, that's about it, if I forgot to tell something important please ask."
Rovan waited in silence after Janssens finished speaking. Everybody seemed to be waiting for somebody else to speak. Ah, he thought, what the hell.
"Okay folks," he announced, "heres my turn then. The names Rovan," he paused to make sure he got it right, "Bren and at 37 I'm going to be chief medical and second officer on Delta One. Lets think, what can i say. Well i've served with Captain Vaun before, a few years back on the USS Orion. My left eyes bionic, of my own creation, due to the accident that also left the scar you can plainly see on the left side of my face. In case any wondered i am a joined Trill. I'm the seventh host for the Bren symbiont. I was also far to old really to have been joined and so i'm facing a near future of being really rather ill." He nodded as he finished, yep, that about summed things up.
"And for our next guest speaker i pick..." he glanced around, not having any idea who most of these people were, "you." He pointed at the Orion, Shy'na
(USS Arakov - Observation Lounge -TAC/SC, Lt Cmdr Richard Ian Lee - 2030)
Rich listened to everyone with a decided lack of interest. Almost everyone here was from the Arakov, not his own station that he would be inhabiting soon. He waited until Rovan finished, then stood to his 7 foot plus height. He took a moment to smooth out his uniform, then looked at everyone on the table.
"My name, is Lt Cmdr Richard Ian Lee, soon to be the tactical/security Chief of Delta one."
He paused for a moment. "Im old enough to know better, and young enough not to care. I have a checkered backround. I have been through hell, and lived to tell the tale." He stopped for a moment. "Though its not a tale I would wish to tell..."
He crossed his arms behind his back. "I know my business, and I like to have a good time. Anyone mucking with the law or the Captains word deals with me, and God help you then." He took a breath and sat back down. "Next"
Shy'na had been just sitting there listening to what the others had been saying about themselves. She had also heard what the Ambassador had to say then what the CMO had to say in reply. She had been astounded that Captain Saun had just taken his outburst to the Ambassador in stride after what she had told her in her quarters. Shy'na guessed and hoped that Sera would talk to the CMO in a later one on one meeting about what had happened. The CMO Rovan Delyn/Bren was not displaying the highest ideals of a Federation Officer to an Ambassador. Shy'na made a mental note that if he ever did that in public again, she would put him on report and possibly press charges. Shy'na saw that his outburst did not seem to register on the Vulcan Ambassador.
Getting up nodding but not smiling to the Ambassador then smiling and nodding to the Cardassian Consul she turned to Captain Eval.
"I am Commander Shy'na Purim, Delta One First Officer once we get there. I was born on Rigel V and raised elsewhere. I have been in Starfleet for some twelve years and just made commander upon getting this assignment. I look forward to meeting each and everyone of you at some time or another." She finished and then nodded at Captain Eval she sat down.
USS Arakov - Observation Lounge- 2035 -COO Ensign Venlore Denlorgin)
Venlore stepped up next to Lt. Commander Lee and looked down at him slightly with a small grin.
~ Well It seems there is at least some close to my height here~
"I think I shall go next if no one else minds?" Venlore asked before starting. " My name is Venlore Denlorgin and I also will be station on Delta 1 as the Chief of Operations. This will be my first command position in Starfleet." He paused to gather his thought before continuing and then saided, " Much of my earlier life was spent on earth with my grandfather who followed then old ways of my people and I do the same as much as I possible can. I also have a strong enjoy learning about other races history and I am pretty well versed in Klingon history other aspects of their race as well. That is about it for me I think who shall go next?"
When the FO of Delta One was ready, Saskia stood up and started introducing herself.
"Hello to you all. I'm Commander Saskia Vix, the First Officer of this vessel. I'm a joined trill, and born in Mak'ava on the Trill homeworld. I've studied for Helmsman on the Academy and have been assigned to the USS Maranello after graduating. I climbed up to the rank of Commander their and I've been there assigned there as First Officer until Starfleet decided to remove the ship from service. I've then been re-assigned to the Arakov as First Officer and I look forward to serve with you all and to learn to know you all."
When Saskia was about to sit down the doors suddenly opened and someone came in.... it was a Lieutenant Jg, and she recognized him as a counsellor...
Deleane had sat quietly while everyone had their say about themselves and even through the emotional outburst of one CMO. The CMO had tried to upset her but he had forgotten the fact that she was Vulcan and she did not take offense that easy. She basically just ignored his emotional outburst for what it was. She had never been through the Kohlinar ceremony so she has not erased all of her emotions completely. She had read the biography of Ambassador Spock and how he handled the time he spent with the Federation. She still smiled once in a great while and sometimes even frowned but today she made a special effort not to show any emotion. After the last one to speak she decided that it was time again to speak.
"Captain Eval," She said as she got up, she could almost feel the sighs around the room especially the CMO, "Maybe I should have introduced myself, I am the Vulcan Ambassador to the Delta Quadrant stationed at Delta One space station. I am the Vulcan equivalent to Consul Devon. I had not meant earlier to be disrespectful as some in this room may think, I was just making a logical point. I now have seen that my statement about your CSO was somewhat flawed as I had not the complete information on the assignments of Science officers. No offense was directed at them or anyone else."
"Captain Saun, I would be honored to assist you in the science department until such time as you gain new people." Deleane told her as she turned to her.
"Consul Torlith, nice to meet you, I would like it if we had some discussions sometime." Deleane said as she looked at him.
Then she looked around the room at the different faces, some that were looking at her and others that were turned away. Some that were interested in what she was saying and others that wanted her to sit down and shut up. "I have an open door policy in my office or out of it. If anyone wants to talk to me, please feel free to. I always like to have a good conversation." She finished and nodded at Captain Eval as she sat down.
