(|Join Form Help|)
This page is designed to give you an idea of how to fill out the join form. If you have problems with the Join-form itself, contact the Webmaster (webmaster-at-frontierfleet-dot-com).

To join STFF you should make sure you:
  1. have a working email address. The game is played by email only, so this is quite important!
  2. read our Game Rules.
  3. read our Posting Guide.
  4. had a look at the Sample Bio (or some of these other bios), so you know what a character's biography needs to look like.
  5. have a sample post. See below for more information what is expected.

You must also be at least 14 years of age.

This page is meant as an updated version of this page but it's not finished yet. The old page describes the old join form, although the new one is very similar.

(|Page 1 - Player Information|)
First name and Last name
Your own name. This is the name that will appear on the website and identifies you as the player behind your character. If you don't want to use your real name, it is okay to use a fake name. Just keep that name serious and pronouncable (i.e. it should look like a name).

Age
Your age. Please be honest here. You must be at least 14 years of age. A large majority of our players are aged 18 or above.

Gender
Your gender. Just to avoid upsetting you when someone keeps talking about you as 'he' when you are female, or vice versa.

Email address
This game is played by email, and this will be our only way to contact you, so a working address is required. Your email address will only be used for game related purposes and will never be shared with third parties.

Country
This field isn't required, but it is just interesting to know where a player is from, and it would give us an idea about time zone differences or possible language barriers.

Any previous RPG/PBEM experience?
It's not required that you have any previous experience, but this field lets us know what kind of roleplaying or pbem games you are used to.

How did you find us?
This lets us know which of our promotional activities was the most successful, so we can better our advertisement and get more new members. If you used a seach engine, please let us know which one.

(|Page 2 - Character Biography|)
This is where you supply the biography of the character you want to play in STFF.

Character Name
Your character's name.
  • First of all choose a sensible name. For instance if you are a human, your character will in most cases have both a name and a surname (depending on his/her cultural background). This follows for other races as well. Try to establish whether the species you plan to play has certain naming structures. Remember you're stuck with that name.
  • The name must be original, you can't play a character from any of the Star Trek series, nor can the character be related to a character from the series.
Paramount does not allow that, and it's much more fun to create your own, original, character.
  • Avoid using your own name as the character's name. This is not considered to be very original, and it may lead to people confusing in-character and out-of-character things, or players taking comments about their character personally.

Character Age
Your character's age. The minimum character age should be the equivalent of a 22 year old human. Starfleet is a military organization, and therefore does not accept any students under the age of 18, and the academy training takes four years. Your character can be older and have experience in Starfleet, but he/she will still start out as an Ensign. Civilians have no minimum age.

Character Race
Your character's race. In most cases, this should be a race whose home planet is a member of the Federation. (See our races database). You can play a 'foreign' race, but your backstory must have a plausible explanation of how they ended up in starfleet (for example, Worf was an orphan who was adopted by humans). Civilians do not have this restriction, but the background story should still explain why they chose to live on a Starfleet starship or space station, and special permission might still be needed.
Q (or any other species with god-like powers), Shapeshifters (Changeling or otherwise), Androids and (ex) Borg drones are not allowed.

Character Gender
Your character's gender. This can be male or female (most species), both (Hermat), or Neither (J'naii).

Character Height
Your character's height. In meters or centimeters would be preferred.

Character Weight
Your character's weight. Kilograms would be preferred, or at least add the unit. Just a number can mean anything ;-)

Character Eye Color
Your character's eye color.

Character Hair Color
Your character's hair color. If your character has no hair, simply write 'bald'.

Character Skin Color
Your Character's skin color.

First Choice & Second Choice Positions
This lets us know in advance where you'd like to be stationed on your vessel. You can change your mind while you are in the academy, as long as you inform your instructor.

Dutystation preference
Some people have a distinct preference for playing on a ship or a starbase/station. Let us know what your preference is (or if you don't have one).

Character Appearance
Give us a brief description about what your character looks like. You can be specific (Height & Weight, Hair & Eye Color), and/or describe the impression they make on people.

Character History
Tell us about your character and the major events of his/her life. Describe his/her family and personal life, as well as his/her career.
(If you would like recommendations on what not to do, see here.)

Psychological Profile
All Starfleet officers are required to undergo Psychological Examination to determine if they are fit for duty. If your characer has any 'issues', this would be the place to mention it. But mostly, this field is to describe your character's personality. Are they outgoing or shy? Laid back, or extremely disciplined? The more detail you can give, the easier it will be for your fellow players to interact with you. Since personality is subjective, and never static, your character can change over time.

Specialties and Skills
Tell us about what your character is good at. It can be job related, or not. If you are planning on making your character exceptionally skilled in one area, you should balance it with a flaw or disadvantage in another area, in order to keep him/her realistic.

Hobbies and Interests
What does your character like to do in his/her free time? What fascinates them?

Notes
This field can be used to tell us something about your character that doesn't fit into one of the above fields.

(|Page 3 - Sample Post|)
This is where you can show us how good you are (well, your biography is part of it too) ;-)

Basically you can write anything that will show us that you know how to write good posts.

Here some of the information you supplied during the signup process is displayed to make sure you entered it correctly, and there is an option to include any final comments you might want to share with us.
