Back in 2001 the USS Calhoun with her original crew made a stand-off with two Cardassian ships. One of them sent out a disruption beam that paralysed the Calhoun's main computer core. In the following two posts Aaron Delay, playing the ship's CEO, first invoked Red Alert, then he devised a plan to get rid of the Cardassians. He really came up with an original end for the mission.
Harris had jumped when Holmes had spouted off about his situation. Ambrose was surprised he hadn't talked about the split up. Shrugging, he slid his chair over to a console. Engineering was quiet. Harris had ordered all officers out, but not all the way out. Several ensigns were working on small problems on a few of the decks. The focus of his time now was getting everything back into order. He looked around the room.The lights were down and a few flickers could be seen here and there, but it was a sign of peace. Standing up, Harris moved to the center of the room and looked around. He smiled until...
All hell broke lose.
The lights failed. The power failed. Everything shut down. Darting across the room, he grabbed a station. Nothing was working. Harris moved like a cheetah now, dashing across the room to his office, slamming through the partially open door, finding his portable generator stash. There were nearly twenty of them. He quickly ran his fingers over the units, connecting them one by one. Slamming his hand into the unit, he turned them on. A cord was attached and once more he ran through the half open door and hooked the station up. Power was working, if only in his section.
~Damn...what happened...~
It was a moment later he found the trick. Cardassians. Slamming his on the board, he began to work. There was not much he could do from here, except lockout the engineering information, which he promptly did. Stabbing his finger on the board, he tried to discover why the power had failed when the Cardassians had begun to snoop. He found his answer a moment later.
<Program 4.33.22>
Created by Jason Baugh, stardate unknown.
For possible invasion by foreign offices.
<end>
Harris sat back in his chair, the light reflecting off his face. His former CEO, Jason Baugh had saved the ship once more. Only now, there was a problem. How do you fix it?
"Computer, disengage program 4.33.22."
"Authorization needed from Jason Baugh, Chief Engineer."
Harris raised an eyebrow. Then what the hell was he? Shaking his head, he began to run his hands over the console, attempting to locate something anything. There was nothing. Sighing, Harris looked around the room, feeling the pressure mount. There had to be something...
"Computer, engage override Harris Two Alpha Beta..."
There was a click and a hum and a beep. Then nothing. Ambrose Harris looked around. What had he done? The room was still as dark and unpowered as ever. Suddenly, a blinking red light was flashing.
<Begin System Startup?>
Harris smiled. Where there's a will, there's a way. Slowly, he began to build a start-up list, making sure that when he gave the signal, everything would light up. As he did this, he tapped his commbadge.
"Chief Harris to the bridge...standby for system start-up. I'm gonna take us straight to red alert as soon as I can. If there aren't any senior officers there, get them the HELL there!"
(reply bridge, tolith perhaps?)
With that, the CEO finished his list and let his hand rest over the button that would start the ship up. He hoped there was a senior officer on the bridge, but there was nothing he could do about that. He pushed his finger down on the board and watched as the systems lighted up. He smiled and turned to face the map of the ship as systems quickly came online.
"Computer, go to RED ALERT! All Engineers to your posts!"
Turning quickly, the Chief began to work to lock out the rest of the ship to outside forces.

NRPG: The Chief Engineer calls a red alert....and I checked....I can call one!
NRPG: And an end...let me know if its a bad one...but here it is!
RPG:
(USS Calhoun - Engineering - 2390.6.19, 21:27)
=^=Use whoever and whatever you need to chief. Though to be fair its all hands on deck up here, you might be best looking to your own for this one, red alert and all. Just get it done., Bren out.=^=
Harris sighed as he tapped his fingers across the board. There was little he could do, except....
"The computer core!"
The CEO moved across the room, jumping over consoles and people. The officers just ducked, as they were used to the Chief and his ways. Harris needed proof and he needed it fast. He almost lost his balance as the ship shook again. What the hell were the Cardassians thinking? His anger and rage had begun to increase to the point it was at now where he would kill anyone who touched his baby in a bad way. The Cardassians were gonna get their rear ends handed to them on a platter, if Harris had anything to with it.
~Damn straight I will, those sons of....~
Ambrose skidded to a halt at the Jeffries tube and tapped his commbadge deftly as he slammed the door open.
"Chief to Holmes. Get ready to do some fast moving at a station..."
(Reply holmes)
Crawling through the tube, he moved quickly down and around till he reached what he what he was looking for.
The main computer core.
"Harris to Torin, we're having a bit of an issue here. I need you to standby on a power transfer should I short circuit this girl..."
(Reply Torin)
Two engineering officers came into the room. It as Smith and Wesson, a unlikely pair Ambrose had grabbed for his services. One was shorter than Harris while the other was taller then a tree.
"Allright gentlemen, prepare to re-route...Holmes, standby!"
The room was beginning to become hot with the combined bodies of two men and a women. Wesson smiled to herself at what an opportunity she had. She shook her head and looked directly at the Chief.
"Start with the basic systems. Holmes, begin to lock these systems into bridge control, but don't release it yet. "
The two officers began to work and as they did, Harris pulled a modified PADD out of his pack. It was time for some Cardassian kicking. Slowly he began to hack the systems, using the uplink he had discovered in the wreckage of the other dampeners. It was a weak link and he needed it.
"Shields and weapons re-routed!"
Harris nodded. Holmes reported next.
"Locked out sir!"
<SYSTEM ACCESSED>
Ambrose began to run his fingers over the systems, trying to find the easiest to hold and keep. He managed to snag their warp drive and navigation before their security protocols locked him out of everything else. He tied all the Cardassians ships systems into his PADD, having managed to get hold of all their warp and navigation systems. He hoped it would work.
~It would have to...~
"We've got everything re-routed!"
Holmes came in, sounding a bit stretched. Harris had a feeling that Main Engineering was a hot pot right now for the officers there, seeing as Holmes was the last step in a process of saving the ship.
"Everything's locked out and ready! We've got little time sir!"
Harris grunted and shoved himself into full gear, nearly rolling himself through the tubes, ending up falling out of the entrance. He bounced right back up to his feet and hit his commbadge.
"Captain Bren, we have a temporary lockout. I have access to their warp and navigation. I have a limited amount of time, but this plan will work. you'll have control and the Cardassians will be gone, with little evidence to prove that their problem was much more than a warp malfunction!"
(Reply Bren)
Harris breathed deeply. He had been waiting so long to do this.
"Holmes, give the bridge their control. Computer, engage Harris_Cardassian_Kill and erase after engagement. GO!"
Harris waited as officers turned to the monitors. Smith and Wesson dropped out of the Jeffries tube. One officer shouted.
"Control is back sir!"
There was another pause as a exterior view was engaged. The Cardassian vessels hung in space, taunting him.
~Pay back is a bit~
Suddenly the vessels shook for a moment in space, then suddenly turned, so quickly, Harris could imagine the support systems screaming. There was a pause as the ships began to move forward when suddenly they jumped into space, going to full warp. Cheers erupted in the room as Harris let his shoulders drop from their tense position. One of the officer turned to the Chief, a puzzled look on his face.
"Chief...where did they go?"
Harris smiled.
"Ever heard of the Klingon Home World? Pretty damn close...."
Harris turned to Holmes.
"Let's get this place cleaned up. Do a check and see what I did to the systems. Smith and Wesson, undo the re-routing and get the systems back to normal. Get me warp capability in five seconds and get me some damn coffee!"
The officers scrambled. Ambrose smiled. They knew how to bust their butts.
(reply Holmes, torin, Bren, and all others)
