(|Pa'nar Syndrome|)
Pa'nar Syndrome is a neural disease caused by mind melders who have been improperly trained. The High Command lied about their being no cure for it. Pa'nar has been known since Surak's time. A melder with great experience can correct the neurological imbalance. T'Pau cured T'Pol's Pa'nar Syndrome. (ENT: Kir'Shara) Within a few weeks of the discovery of the Kir'Shara, people with Pa'Nar were coming forward and being cured. It was no longer considered a stigma. Pa'Nar affects neurolytic enzymes. (ENT: Daedalus)

(|Pon Farr|)
Pon Farr is the Vulcan time of Mating. Symptoms include emotional, hostile, sometimes violent behavior, and loss of appetite. During Pon Farr, there is a growing imbalance of body functions. As if in Humans, huge amounts of adrenaline were constantly being pumped into the bloodstream. If it is not relieved, the physical and emotional pressures will simply kill a Vulcan male. No outworlder may know of Pon Farr except those few who become involved. Even Vulcans don't speak of it among themselves. It is a deeply personal thing. During Pon Farr, their logic is ripped from them. It is a kind of insanity. It is shielded with ritual and custom shrouded in antiquity. Plak-tow is the last stage of Pon Farr. Typically, males are unable to speak when they reach this stage. (TOS: Amok Time) Vulcan males are driven to mate once every 7 years. (ENT: Fusion)
